In his late teens Neon wandered into a giant abandoned building in gowanus and named it the Batcave. For a few years it became home, not just to the artist but a community of squatters, throwing punk shows and anarchist events. After Neon left to travel the country on freight train, the place fell into disrepair, and Neon would return only to paint large political messaging across the roof, visible for miles.

Those words caught the attention of an arts philanthropist who bought the building and over a decade transformed it into an arts center, known as Powerhouse. Neon was invited back to paint a mural there for its opening, a pigeon taking flight with the building on its back.
